    Festival of Folk 2017

  • The National Folk Theatre's annual Festival of Folk kicks off with Fadó Fadó - Ireland in Times Past, a nostalgic look back at life in rural Ireland in times gone by...

    Join us for our Festival of Folk, celebrating the best of Irish Music, Song and Dance.  The Festival for 2017 begins on the 8th of May and continues until the 23rd of September, with performances six nights a week in May and September, and seven nights a week from July to August. There's so much to enjoy during our annual festival - from performances and workshops to exhibitions in our gallery spaces.

    Kerry Camino Heritage Tour

  • Join us for a day trip where we explore the history and heritage of The Kerry Camino Route. This is a combined walk plus bus trip from St. Johns Church in Tralee. Walk out From Tralee to Blennerville village, Visit the model railway, and get your second Kerry Camino Passport Stamp.Board the bus from Blennerville for Killelton famine village and oratory. Walk back towards Camp village and board the bus again for Annascaul and the story of Tom Crean and a stop at The South Pole Inn. Back onboard towards Lispole and stop and learn more about the importance of the railway in Kerry history. Back on the bus to head to St James church in Dingle. People will then have time to explore Dingle on their own before we board the bus one more time for the journey home.

    Listowel Races Festival 2017

  • Listowel Festival Launched by Dermot Weld & Mullins Family - Celebrating over 150 years of Racing in Listowel. The Listowel Racecourse is located adjacent to the town and is within easy walking distance of the town centre.

    Crumlin Colour Dash

  • Crumlin Colour Dash is a 5km Colour Run in aid of Crumlin Children's Hospital. The run will being at Tralee Bay Wetlands go out along the canal to Blennerville, turn left at the Station House in Kearneys Road and down Ballyard hill back into Tralee Bay Wetlands. This run is 100% focused on having fun and is not going to be competitive.

    There will be powder paint stations along the route from Blennerville onwards where stewards will be throwing powder paint at the participants. This will be great fun and is open to all ages and especially families. All chrildren must be accompanied by an adult.

    All the proceeds of this event will be going directly to Crumlin Children's Hospital which is an amazing Chaity helping children from all over Ireland.

    Sports First Aid Workshop

  • Description

    The recognition, assessment and immediate on-site management of sports injuries are crucial to facilitate rehabilitation and to minimise further risk or harm.

    This course is designed for coaches, instructors, teachers, supervisors, sports assistants and volunteers.

    While participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance from the Civil Defence, please note that this course is NOT a nationally recognised First Aid course and simply aims to give the knowledge and confidence required when dealing with a sports injury/incident

    • CPR for Adults, Children and Infants

    • Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator

    • Epilepsy, Diabetes, Asthma, Dehydration

    • Essential items for a Sports First Aid Kit

    Safeguarding 3 - Designated Liaison Person Workshop

    Programme Outline

    The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency or Social Services (NI) and/or An Garda Siochána / PSNI. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role.

    Programme Aims

    - To assist the Designated Liaison Officer to implement best practice in terms of Child Protection within the club setting.

    Please note: Completion of the Safeguarding 1 – Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection course is a pre-requisite to attending this course

    Safeguarding 1 - Child Welfare and Protection in Sport also known as Code of Ethics, is a Sports Ireland (formerly known as Irish Sports Council) initiative. This training course enables Children’s Officers/Sports Leaders to implement best practice in protecting the welfare of participants.

    Course Aims

    - To ensure adults have adequate training to protect the welfare of children in a sporting environment
    - To assist in creating a child-centered environment within the sports club setting
    - To highlight categories of abuse and associated indicators

  • Following on from the success of her workshops throughout the country in 2017, Thérèse Fahy returns with an intensive weekend workshop where she will further explore senior piano repertoire featured on the Grade VI to Senior Certificate piano exams. Over the course of the two days, Thérèse will explore technique, genre, style and much more.
